HOOK your viewer.

filming tips Apr 04, 2023

Your video needs to stop the scroll.

The next video down probably has a super cute snowboarder or a hot puppy or a flying person, so don’t start yours boring

" Just now I created a hook. There's a bunch of ways that you can create a hook and some of 'em are more annoying than others. Now I've got like a crazy six pack that I could start by thirst trapping, or big cleavage if I was leaning forward and looking seductive. I don't have those kind of hooks, but I can use movement.

And the most important thing to realize is that all of the other videos, you are competing with them. So if it's a snowboarder flying through the air, or if it's a super hot person or a super adorable little puppy, and that's the first thing that you see, that first frame when you're swiping through and looking at other videos, the one that grabs your attention, that's the one that you end up watching and you're competing with those.

So don't start off your videos boring."

You're absolutely right! Creating a strong hook at the beginning of your videos is crucial to grab viewers' attention and make them want to continue watching. As you mentioned, you're competing with numerous other videos and content vying for people's attention, so it's important to make a memorable and engaging first impression.

While using eye-catching visuals like impressive action shots or appealing imagery can be effective hooks, movement can also be a compelling way to capture attention. By incorporating dynamic movement in your video's opening, whether it's through your gestures, expressions, or the way you present yourself, you can create an engaging and intriguing start.

Remember, the goal is to pique viewers' curiosity and make them curious about what you have to say or show. By avoiding a slow or uninteresting start, you increase the likelihood of viewers staying engaged throughout the video.

Experimenting with different hooks and finding what works best for your content and audience is key. It's about finding a balance between capturing attention and staying true to your authentic style and message. Keep exploring creative ways to make your video openings exciting, and you'll continue to attract and retain viewers' interest.
