I particularly love the way this Shure SM7B
captures the lower register (or chest voice) for me.
Most importantly, it captures what’s right in front of it really well, but ignores most other noises in the background.
I work from home, and between the kids, and wife, and neighborhood noises like lawnmowers and leaf blowers (I passionately HATE leaf blowers)
I need all the help I can get.
If you decide to splurge on a great mic like this, plan for ALL of the gear required:
-Mic
-Stand/Arm
-Cables
-Interface/Board
-Cloud Lifter (if needed)
I started out with a 60 dollar usb mic, and have slowly accumulated the gear I have over time. If you’re straight up loaded, by all means, ball out accordingly.
If you’re like me and need to take financial baby steps, don’t think you need the best gear to get started!
Also, don’t listen to people with the best gear saying “gear doesn’t matter” because it sure as shit does.
But more importantly than having better gear, you should get better yourself with the gear you have.
That way, you’ll appreciate the better gear when you’re ready for it, and actually see a measurable difference in your content.
How many times did I just say gear?
" This bad boy is my favorite. This is a very popular mic called the Sure SM seven B. This is one of my favorite pieces of gear I've ever bought, and it was pretty expensive, but worth every penny. This is not a very practical mic. It does have the XLR cable With the three little connections, you could just get something simple that's usb.
But if you want to do some dope live streaming, I'd definitely recommend the Sure SM seven B. All right, we'll talk more tomorrow."
The Shure SM7B is indeed a popular and high-quality microphone favored by many content creators and streamers. While it may not be the most practical option due to its XLR connection requiring an audio interface, its audio quality and versatility make it worth the investment for those seeking professional-grade sound.
If you're looking for a simpler setup, there are USB microphones available that offer good audio quality and ease of use. However, if you're aiming for exceptional sound and are willing to work with XLR connections and an audio interface, the Shure SM7B is an excellent choice.
