Manfrotto US makes super dope gadgets like this Super Clamp and the 244 Variable Friction Magic Arm
Mar 09, 2023Being able to use my Sony cameras for live streaming is pretty useful, since swapping lenses and /or camera is fast and simple.
My whole goal for any setup, is to avoid friction, or in other words, avoid anything that will slow me down from just starting!
When I feel creative, that is the time to strike while the irons hot!
Having a dedicated spot for creating content is one thing, but it’s even more important when live-streaming.
I eventually changed my camera stand to this friction arm, just to get extra stuff off the desk surface. I’ll make any adjustments to eliminate the friction that tries to rob me of valuable creative energy.
"ββThe lens I use for my livestream is super heavy. It's a big 18 to 35 millimeter sigma lens. And to hold all that up, I have this super clamp that's connected to a Manfrotto variable friction magic arm. So I can basically loosen up that big fat knob or tighten it all the way down, and it will hold up this Sony camera, even with this really heavy.
Sigma lens on there, and while I don't think having a mirrorless camera and a capture card is the best way to set up a webcam, I do love that I could just sit down, adjust my mic, go live and start making content, go."
It sounds like you have a solid setup for your livestream with your Sony camera and the 18 to 35 millimeter Sigma lens. The combination of the super clamp and the Manfrotto variable friction magic arm provides a sturdy support system for your camera, even with the heavy lens attached.
While using a mirrorless camera and a capture card may not be the conventional method for setting up a webcam, it's great to hear that you're satisfied with your setup. The convenience of being able to sit down, adjust your microphone, and start creating content for your livestream is definitely a plus.
