Streaming to Kick directly from StreamYard

livestreams Mar 04, 2023

Signing up for Kick is crazy simple, but that’s only half of the equation. Most users are creating their stream on OBS.

For a LOT of people, downloading and configuring OBS is way more than they want to mess with.

For that reason Streamyard is a fast and simple solution for streaming solo or with friends, but Kick doesn’t integrate directly, so you need custom RTMP settings.

"  In this video, I'm gonna show you how to livestream to kick.com, how to invite friends, how to set it up super easy without using obs. So we're gonna go to kick.com and right off the bat you can see there's a bunch of scandalous categories, all sorts of things, top right corner. We're gonna click sign up with Google, and I'm gonna do this with my win media account.

So I'm gonna go chris win medialab.com and boom. There we go. I'm signed up. I got a creator dashboard, like instantly I have access to this. Most important thing that I'm gonna need to get is from my settings. So again, I went, clicked on my little avatar thing, creator dashboard. Then I'm coming over here to settings, and I'm gonna go to Stream.

Okay, so now we've got our stream key. There's actually a secret that's coming up next, so stay to the end of the video. I will show you what to do. This is something that I discovered by working with the team with Kevin over on the kick.com discord. Thank you Kevin for this. Uh, I really hope this helps a lot of people.

Now, for part two, we're gonna go over to streamyard.com. This doesn't work with a free account sucks, but it is what it is. If you want to have custom rtmp settings, which is what we're gonna use here, you have to have a paid account. Same thing with Restream, same thing. My guess is with any of these streaming services now, if you already have StreamYard because you use it for business, good for you.

Uh, this is exactly how to do what we're gonna do. So I've got a, a stream set up here, and this is just a little test set up that I have. And if I want to test this out, I need to edit my destinations. So I have a bunch of different destinations here. I'm gonna click on add a new one and go down to Custom rtmp.

All right, so here is where our stuff from, kick.com. We're gonna copy this over. So we're gonna paste our URL and then we're gonna hop back over. We're gonna grab our stream key, paste that in there. Now here's the thing. That's not enough. So I'm gonna actually name this kick video now before I'm done. If I were to just save this exactly how I have it here, it won't work.

When I talked to Kevin the other day, he actually asked me to type in something at the end of this rtmp server url. There's a bunch of nerd reasons why to do that, but I don't think you care. I think you just wanna know how exactly to stream. To kick, so I'm gonna show you right now, at the end of our url, we have to add something very specific.

We've got right after.net, we have colon 4 43 slash a p, so 4 43 slash app, and if we add that rtmp server and we save it, then what should happen now is if I click go live, then now what's happening is, Streamyard is sending this stream out into the innerwebs and hopefully if we did the right thing, if that little addition to that, that stream URL worked.

Then if we go back over to our kick.com, you're gonna see edit stream info. Then you're gonna see the section for your title and your category and then your language, and if it's 18 or older material. All that stuff you could put in here now for whatever reason. You can't actually do this normally without that edition of the 4 43 slash app.

It just doesn't work. This is a massive unlock for me because I want to be able to use Streamyard with my friends without using obs at all, but I like using OBS, so I'm probably gonna do that at the same time as making this simple for my friends. My friends don't need OBS. All they actually need. Is a phone.

So this is a huge unlock for people that want to be on Kik, but they don't really wanna nerd out too hardcore. Or for people who just wanna hop on a kick.com livestream for Twitter space. Best case scenario for that is use your phone for Twitter and then just use a computer with the webcam just like this one.

And then you can click the link, you're right there in Streamyard and all of that is being pumped out to kick.com. Who? That was like the super easy way to do all this stuff. So let me know if you have any questions, comments. We're gonna dive into all things streaming and kick.com coming up. See you tomorrow."
